Learning about your Intuition

What is your intuition? Most people are familiar with the term "gut instinct" without fully recognizing that they are one and the same. Your intuition is your internal compass, your guidance in this world. While some are really adept at listening to their gut, it's often over looked and mistaken for something else and disregarded.
Your intuition doesn't just live in your gut though. It's all around you and shows up in a multitude of ways - it's just the awareness that is missing. I have clients that use their gut instincts constantly in their work life but when it comes to actually utilizing it in a personal way and leading to processing emotions and feelings...it's a hard stop.
What makes people believe their first instinct about a situation but when it comes to leaning into these and correlating it with feeling and healing, it is like a foreign language? There is a level of emotional intelligence and vulnerability that is asked of us when we follow our intuition. It isn't a tangible thing, so to use it as evidence for an action, can feel a bit scary.
So what is your intuition and how can it help you in your day to day life?
Your intuition is that little voice or feeling that has an immediate response. A feel good feeling, a yes, or a no. Usually the secondary voice that comes in is the ego and it can make you feel like you should disregard that first little voice (it is trying to keep you safe after all).
The first step in utilizing your intuition more is to simply trust. Trust what comes up and then believe it. You don't even need to act on it right away, but give yourself that trust and say "yes, okay, got it." Maybe you trust your gut instinct but the action part isn't quite there yet. That's okay! Continue to build that foundation of trust because then you can start building upon trusting yourself and that little voice that is guiding you. You have free will after all. We cannot be expected to follow every little ping that we get (sometimes it's just not the right time), but cultivating the knowing within is the way through.
