What Is Reiki?

Simply put, Reiki is an energy work modality. Energy work is non-traditional medicine using alternative practices to relieve ailments.
What is Reiki
So what is reiki? Reiki is an energetic healing modality that uses universal life source energy to rebalance energy centres in a client. The practitioner is merely the channel of this energy and allows it to flow where it needs to flow.
This is why reiki is endearingly called an "energetic tune-up" for a vague overview. It's merely a channeling of energy into a client's energy field to bring awareness and healing to areas that need it at that time.
This may sound completely woo woo but really everything is energy! And when our bodies' energy is out of tune, blocked by emotions, limiting beliefs, past life trauma, etc, it can become stagnated and creates stagnation in our energy flow which results in side effects, symptoms, and if not actively aware of how to move energy and support the body properly, can create illness.
Reiki (and energy work in general) is NOT a replacement for medical care, but rather a supplement of understanding and gathering additional information to support your body as it moves through. Reiki is wonderful to work in tandem with, and be a compliment to, traditional or holistic medical care.
Why do you need Reiki?
No one *needs* reiki, but it sure can help in a number of ways. Here are just a few:
Promote Balance - reiki is a non-invasive energy transfer that is extremely effective in promoting overall wellness. Through the energy transfer, the body is able to restore balance across all systems of the mind, body, and spirit. This creates harmony and allows people to continue throughout their day knowing this "middle space" of balance.
Relaxation - I always tell my clients that when they leave the table is how they should feel all the time; grounded and in their middle space. Reiki is a time where you can just "be" and receive the energy.
Remove Blocks & Stagnant Energy - we all hold onto things in our body (some that's brought forward from past lives that we aren't even aware of!). While receiving reiki, the energy flow can present our awareness to certain areas where we can release some of this stagnant energy.
Cleanses The Body - reiki is useful to remind our bodies how to go back into the “repair” or “self-healing” state of rest and digest. By triggering this state, our bodies begin to cleanse themselves of useless energies. It also allows the body to protect itself from exhaustion, burnout, or immune system failure.
Clears The Mind + Improves Focus - reiki reminds receivers to be in the present moment. Messages from the past may come up but it's all lovingly to help in the present moment.
Improves Sleep - You can always expect to feel extremely relaxed after a reiki session. This kind of relaxation helps our bodies to sleep better, to heal better, and to think more clearly. It is not uncommon for people to fall asleep entirely during a session.
Helps Spiritual Growth - Reiki really helped connect me in even further to my spiritual path. It was like putting my finger into a light socket but instead of a shock it was an expansion; like lifting a veil of what was, what is, and what will be. Everything was already there, removing some of the blocks and stagnant energy that I was holding just helped me actually see it all.
How to pick a Reiki practitioner
Much like doctors, reiki practitioners are not all created equal. As human beings with unique energetic gifts and life experiences, we are not all born the same, so why would our energy flow the same? Think of soul gifts like a finger print; yours is unique to you.
It's like doctors or even people who you meet for the first time. You may not jive with someone for some inexplicable reason and that's okay! Use your own discernment to find the right person for you.
Additionally, a lot of times during a reiki session, because it works in a relaxing and energetically open state, it is common for messages to come through. For me personally, this means that messages are from the physical/energetic body of the client, or from their guides/past loved ones/team of light to help support during the session. I have mediumship tendencies with my own personal gifts so past loved show up quite often for me. I know a lot of reiki practitioners who do not communicate with deceased loved ones but instead get stunning flashes of images to convey what they are receiving.
It is pretty much impossible to accurately state what a reiki session feels like as each session is completely different. I am not leading the session, your soul is! I just facilitate the messages and direct the energy.
The best way to find out if it's for you is to try it out yourself. If you're feeling the call, let's connect <3
